Perform all duties using a strengths-based, youth-focused approach and in compliance with health department, Child Nutrition Program, food safety, sanitation, and agency guidelines.A Typical Day as a Residential Counselor:Promptly communicate food service needs, safety concerns, inventory updates, and required youth meal accommodations to the Food Service Supervisor.Prepare dinners and occasional breakfasts in a respectful, youth-focused manner.Set up and clean up meal areas before and after meals.Help serve meals while supporting a strength-based mealtime environment.Model respectful communication and encourage healthy food choices with youth.Follow approved menus, portion sizes, and meal components to meet Child Nutrition Program guidelines.Record food temperatures and monitor hot and cold holding requirements.Report food safety concerns promptly.Maintain kitchen sanitation through handwashing, safe food handling, cross-contamination prevention, and routine cleaning.Receive, store, label, date, rotate, and dispose of food according to food safety procedures.Order correct food quantities when the Food Service Supervisor is absent.Maintain assigned records, including temperature logs, production records, substitutions, inventory notes, and sanitation documentation.Follow documented directions for special diets, allergies, and meal modifications.Complete required food safety, sanitation, nutrition program, and agency training.Perform light cleaning in designated common hallways, staff office areas, public restrooms, and stairwells, including wiping fixtures and restocking supplies.Perform other assigned duties related to food service or light cleaning support in designated facility areas.Location:260 E Queenwood Road Morton, IL Work Hours: Schedule is Monday thru Friday 11am to 6pm with some flexibilityDoes the Following Apply to You?HS diploma or equivalent (Required)Food Handler's Certification or Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification or obtain within 30days of employment (Preferred)1 year institutional cooking Experience (Preferred)Additional Qualifications: Completion of DCFS criminal background check and fingerprinting Must be at least 21 years of age Obtain an insured vehicle At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license Successful completion of DCFS Foundations Training to obtain Child Welfare LicensureAdditional Benefits:Choice of 4 medical plans including PPO and high deductible plans with HSADental and Vision Insurance401k plan with 4% employer matchEmployer Paid Life Insurance and Long-Term DisabilityFlexible Spending Plan and Dependent Care PlanAbout The Center for Youth and Family Solutions (CYFS):(CYFS) is seeking compassionate, committed, and culturally competent individuals who align with our mission of helping children and families in need with dignity, compassion, and respect to resolve life challenges.
