Residential & Light Commercial HVAC Installation Technician

Location: Maryville, Illinois

What you will do

  • Install residential and light commercial HVAC systems: furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, ventilation, and IAQ components.
  • Remove/replace existing systems in line with manufacturer specs and company standards.
  • Fabricate and install ductwork and fittings.
  • Read and apply blueprints, specs, and install manuals.
  • Ensure code compliance, safety adherence, and alignment with company policies.
  • Commission systems and verify proper performance after installation.
  • Complete accurate job documentation, records, and materials reports.
  • Explain installation steps and system operation to customers.
  • Maintain an organized, debris-free job site.
  • Coordinate with service techs, project managers, and peers to finish projects efficiently.
  • Use company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely.

Must-have qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of HVAC installation experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; clean driving record.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs; work in hot, cold, and changing weather.
  • Comfort in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and tight areas.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-have credentials

  • EPA Section 608 Certification.
  • Accredited trade school HVAC certification.
  • Sheet metal/ductwork installation experience.
  • NATE Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.

Physical capabilities

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Operate in variable temperatures and outdoor conditions.
