RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The Residential Living Specialist is responsible for the general growth, development and well-being of the individuals residing in housing provided by Soul Care Life Services.  Some duties and responsibilities of the RLS are as follows:
 
Care of Individuals:
·         Care for the individuals with dignity and respect
·         Integrate individuals within the community.  Organize recreational activities in the home and in the community
·         Provide a safe, clean, comfortable and therapeutic living environment for the individuals served
·         Encourage individuals to develop competencies, including daily living skills, social skills and interpersonal skills
·         Administer medications and other health care services as prescribed by individuals’ health providers.

Administrative:
·         Adhere to documentation and reporting requirements and procedures
·         Understand and adhere to agency policies and procedures
·         Understand and adhere to state and county regulations
·         Maintain confidentiality of all individuals’ information
·         Maintain appropriate professional conduct and dress
·         Communicate daily information, problems and concerns with peers and supervisors
·         Attend and participate in at least 24-hours of appropriate in-service training per year
·         Maintain the security, cleanliness, and upkeep of the home, vehicles and equipment
·         Assure proper use of supplies
 
Programming:
·         Assess and evaluate individuals’ behaviors and skills, and complete written documentation
·         Develop and implement goal plans
·         Ensure proper supervision is provided for individuals
 
Professional:
·         Actively participate in scheduled staff meeting, trainings and supervisory sessions
·         Assume responsibility for professional development
·         Participate productively and cooperatively on the staff tram with individuals’ family members, the community and other providers
·         Follow the agency Code of Ethics
·         Assist in training new staff
 
Miscellaneous:
·         Responsible for all other appropriate duties as assigned
·         Hours vary according to programming needs
·         Schedules can include days, evening and/or weekends at the discretion of the Program Specialist and or Administration
·         Responsible to remain on duty with individuals until the next staff person arrives
 
Pre-Requisites:
·         Valid driver’s license required
·         High School Diploma or equivalent
·         Must be 21 years of age
·         Ability to lift and transfer, climb, reach, stand, and walk distances
