Residential Support Specialist

Shift: Day shift Tuesday- Saturday 7:00am- 3:00pm

Pay Rate: $21.50/hr

The Residential Support Specialist (RSS) collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary team to provideaseamlessdeliveryofservicesto residentsinourmentalhealthresidentialtreatment programs. As residents work toward individual goals, the RSS engages in intentional skills building. Areas of focus may include activities of daily living, life skills, and therapeutic interventions. The RSS is also responsible for ensuring a clean and organized environment.

ResidentSupport

• Activelyengagewithresidentstosupportmovementtowardgoalsandtransition planning using strength-based and person-centered approaches.

• Centersresidentexperiencesincludingmaximumlevelofautonomyandpersonalrights.

• ActivelyparticipateinTeamBasedCare,includingcollaborationand participationin staff meetings.

• Providehands-onsupport toresidentsas neededincompleting activities of daily livingand instrumental activities of daily livingsuch as(but not limited to)attending appointments,completinghouseholdtasks,maintaininghygiene,maintainingcontinence, bathing, toileting,dressing,eatingandmanagingmedication.

• Assistsincrisisinterventionutilizingnonviolentde-escalationtechniques.Supports residents in navigating distress and conflict.

• Adherestomedicationmanagementprotocol.Remainsconstantlyalerttochangesinmedication.

• Responsibleformealpreparationandprovidingopportunitiesforskillstraining.

• Providesandfacilitatesgroupactivitiesandcommunityengagement.

• UnderstandsandcomplieswithOregonAdministrativeRuleswhichincludeHome and Community Based mental health services.

FacilityOperations

• Facilitatesfiredrillsandemergencyproceduresasassignedorasneeded.

• CompletesSafetyandSanitationCheckliststwicemonthly.

• Responsibleforthehealthandsafetyofthehouse,seeingthatthehouseisclean, orderly,andsafe.Thismayincludeexposuretobiohazardousorunsafematerials.

• Maintainsthecleanlinessoffoodstorageareas,commonareas,andemployeeoffice.

• Completesallshiftduties asassigned.

• Communicatesmaintenanceandsupplyneeds.

Documentation

• At the end of each shift ensure all documentation (engagement notes, shift notes, EMAR,communicationlog,incidentreports,etc.) iscompleteineachresidentchart, following policy and Oregon Administrative Rules.

• Completesallincidentreportsbyendofshift.

• Ensuresnarcoticcountisupdatedduringeachnarcoticmedicationpassaswellas completes shift change documentation.

OtherGeneralExpectations:

• MustmaintainactiveCPRcertificationatalltimes.

• Staff must remain awake and alert at all times on shift.

• Completestasksassignedbyprogramleadership.

• FulfillsallonboardingrequirementsandtrainingswithintimelinesoutlinedinNew Narrative policy and procedures.

• MusthaveacriminalrecordsclearancethroughtheStateMentalHealthDivisionprior to starting employment.

• Willnotworkover40hours perweekunlessauthorizedbyasupervisor.

• Willreporttoworkpromptlyandwilladheretoallschedulingandattendancepolicies.

• Attendandparticipateinallmeetings andtrainings.

• Followsallagencypolicies,procedures,andprotocols.

• Maintainssecurityofconfidentialinformation.

• ResidentialSupport Specialistscanbetemporarilyreassignedfromtheir scheduledsiteto cover other residential treatment homes/facilities, as directed by a member of the residential leadership team.

Education/Certificates/Licenses/Registration:

• High School Diploma/GED required. 

• QMHAcredentialspreferred.CurrentCPRcertificationpreferred.

Experience/Qualifications:Mustbe18yearsofageandcapableofimplementingemergencyproceduresand disasterplan. Must be able to administer CPR andNaloxone(Narcan).Mustbecomfortableworkingindependently.
