Job Summary
The Respiratory Assistant - Student performs various duties integral to the daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department. Some of these duties include the cleaning and disinfecting, performance verification and maintenance of Respiratory equipment, performing office functions and charging patients accounts for services rendered as well as maintaining scheduling computer records, equipment inventory control, patient education and diagnostic testing.
Essential Job Functions
Maintains a clean and orderly environment:
Keeps supplies organized to allow easy retrieval.
Assists in keeping department organized.
Collects, cleans and redistributes respiratory equipment:
Inspects and processes equipment per infection control guidelines and department policy.
Applies ventilator circuit and completes extended service testing for life support equipment to ensure proper functioning prior to placing in service.
Properly packages equipment for stocking and reuse.
Troubleshoots and promotes preventative maintenance adherence by direct communication with the BME department based on hours of operation and testing.
Assists with the inventory and ordering of departmental supplies:
Orders supplies when stock meets minimum levels.
Participates in department-based cost containment practices and makes appropriate recommendations to manager.
Completes Active Staffer activities within the acceptable time limits
Inputs the posted schedule within the acceptable time limits
Archives schedule within acceptable time limits
Utilizes Star Navigator to post charges and credits to patient accounts as directed.
Administrative Support
Utilizes all computer systems i.e.: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.
Inputs and organizes performance improvement data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Performs various administrative duties as deemed necessary i.e.: filing, copying, faxing, organizing records, typing and data entry.
Other duties as assigned.
