Position Overview:
This is a full-time role with day shifts, consisting of two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts. Weekend duties will be required every third weekend.
Position Summary:
The role involves assessing and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy. You will administer prescribed therapeutic services related to respiratory health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment, creating a care plan based on their diagnosis.
- Deliver respiratory care services in line with physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
- Implement and oversee patient care plans and equipment, while monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions. Perform advanced respiratory care techniques.
- Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
- Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment, ensuring departmental inventory levels are maintained. Follow established cleaning and sterilization protocols.
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all activities.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education:
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly use speech for effective communication.
- Consistently stand and walk throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Engage in sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks regularly.
- Utilize vision for close (20 inches or less) and distant (20 feet or more) tasks, including color differentiation.
- Employ smell to identify and recognize various odors.
- Use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
- Occasionally lift or move objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
- Occasionally perform bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements with hands and legs.
- Occasionally drive as part of job duties.
- Rarely engage in crawling or running activities.
