Position Overview:

Join our Respiratory Therapy team at St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles, where you will play a vital role in patient care.

  • Schedule: Full-time, Night Shift, consisting of three 12-hour shifts weekly, with rotating weekend and holiday duties.
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available for external qualified candidates, requiring a two-year service commitment.
  • Qualifications: Both Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) are encouraged to apply!

Job Summary:

Your primary responsibility will be to assess and provide care for patients requiring respiratory therapy, administering prescribed therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate treatment type and frequency, creating a tailored care plan based on their diagnosis.
  • Deliver respiratory care services in alignment with physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
  • Implement and oversee patient care plans and equipment, monitoring and documenting patient conditions while performing advanced respiratory care techniques.
  • Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
  • Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment, ensuring departmental inventory levels are maintained and equipment is cleaned according to protocols.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
  • Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular verbal communication is essential.
  • Frequent standing and walking are required.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-50 lbs.
  • Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
  • Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances, as well as color differentiation.
  • Regular olfactory and auditory skills to detect odors and sounds.
  • Occasional driving and physical movements such as bending, stooping, and squatting.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
