Job Description Summary

The Respiratory Student Equipment Technician is a non-clinical support role responsible for cleaning, tracking, preparation, and delivery of respiratory equipment to support patient care operations across assigned clinical areas. This position operates under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Shift Lead (RTSL) and reports to the Respiratory Therapy manager. The equipment technician positions does not provide direct patient care and performs all duties in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, infection prevention standards, and departmental procedures.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EDUCATION:

Qualifications:

Education:

· Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC) or a recognized successor organization.

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED)required.

Skills & Abilities:

· Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to policies and procedures

· Strong organization and time management skills

· Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work collaboratively with respiratory team members

Licensure & Certification:

· None required for this role; entry level

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred

Safety & Compliance:

· Adheres to all hospital infection prevention policies and CDC guidelines

· Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during all cleaning and handling processes

· Ensure proper handling, transport, and storage of contaminated and/or clean equipment

· Reports safety concerns or equipment malfunctions immediately to Shift Lead or RT Manager

Additional Job Description

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 3 years
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
