Responsibilities for a Respiratory Therapist with Phoebe Allentown:
- Meets goals and needs of residents needing respiratory therapy by conducting pulmonary assessments; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
- Communicating effectively with interdisciplinary care teams regarding all aspects of respiratory program.
- Assesses the effectiveness of care to all patients on the service as appropriate or according to prescribed schedules.
- Follows Respiratory Therapy Services protocol.
- Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating resident progress, recommending adjustments and modifications.
- Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, discharge planners, and other health care workers.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing or overseeing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Educates all interdisciplinary team members to any changes in the care, equipment, and/or approach to the resident as it relates to their pulmonary status.
- Educates residents/family regarding discharge instruction related to respiratory care as requested by Medical/Nursing team.
Requirements for a Respiratory Therapist with Phoebe Allentown:
- The ability to deliver excellent customer service to all residents, families, and coworkers.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician by the National Board of Respiratory Care and certified/licensed in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Minimum one (1) year of related experience is normally required.
