Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care for patients by diagnosing, evaluating, treating, managing, and controlling cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities under physician orders. This role also serves as a resource to Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) staff and may participate in special clinical projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic respiratory testing according to established protocols.
  • Obtain arterial blood gases and oversee respiratory equipment to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessments.
  • Administer respiratory medications safely and evaluate patient response.
  • Monitor patient condition and communicate updates and recommendations to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care, health promotion, and self-care techniques.
  • Complete documentation according to departmental standards and accurately record productivity information.
  • Monitor respiratory supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or equipment issues as needed.
  • Utilize time effectively to meet productivity standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient care processes and promote a safe care environment.
  • Serve as a resource, consultant, and mentor to staff and support the development of respiratory care standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and research activities.
  • Float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business needs.
  • Participate in on-call coverage during regularly scheduled shifts, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
