Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care in an acute-care hospital setting. The Respiratory Therapist will assess and manage cardiopulmonary conditions, provide ventilatory and airway support, perform diagnostic procedures, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Assess acute and chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
Initiate and provide ventilatory support.
Recommend appropriate ventilator settings and utilize lung-protective strategies.
Appropriately wean patients and monitor/troubleshoot ventilators.
Perform ABG draws and sputum specimen collection.
Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
Perform bedside spirometry and capnography.
Monitor patients' respiratory status during in-hospital and inter-facility transports.
Participate in Codes and Rapid Response Teams (RRTs).
Assist with conscious sedation procedures and intubations.
Administer oxygen, Heliox, high-flow oxygen therapy, and other therapeutic gases.
Assist with bronchoscopies in the Bronch Suite, OR, floors, ER, and ICU.
Provide respiratory treatment modalities for neonatal and pediatric patients as required.
Assess and maintain tracheostomy and laryngectomy tubes.
Perform nasotracheal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning.
Assist providers with tracheostomy tube changes.
Provide tracheostomy care and tracheal suctioning in collaboration with nursing staff.
Assess and administer PEP, CPT, and other airway-clearance therapies.
Administer aerosolized and metered-dose medications.
Assess, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain non-invasive ventilation.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and provide respiratory therapy expertise.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation and charging in the EMR.
Perform daily charge reconciliation to ensure accurate billing.
Maintain respiratory equipment, supplies, and inventory.
Precept, train, and orient staff and students as required.
Follow department policies, therapist-driven protocols, infection-control practices, and safety standards.
Provide professional and compassionate care to patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members.
Perform other respiratory therapy duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program – Required.
