    Description

Novant Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, delivering high‑quality respiratory care to patients across a range of acute and chronic conditions. In this role, you will use your advanced respiratory therapy skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for patients requiring respiratory support, including those on oxygen therapy, non‑invasive ventilation, invasive mechanical ventilation, and specialized pulmonary treatments. Working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary care team, you will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes and ensure safe, evidence‑based practice.

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases and pulmonary function trends, and respond to respiratory emergencies including rapid responses, codes, and acute respiratory distress. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol delivery devices, ensuring proper function, infection control, and patient safety at all times. You will also participate in weaning protocols, airway management support, and implementation of physician‑ordered respiratory care plans.

Education and patient advocacy are central to this position. You will provide clear, compassionate education to patients and their families on respiratory conditions, medications, equipment use, and self‑management strategies, supporting Novant Health’s commitment to personalized care. You will document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely within the electronic medical record, adhering to regulatory, safety, and departmental standards.

At Novant Health, you will work in a culture that values diversity, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will be encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute ideas that advance innovative respiratory care. Opportunities for growth may include precepting new team members, participating in committees or specialty programs, and expanding your practice in critical care, pediatrics, or other specialty areas depending on the needs of the facility.

This position is best suited for a motivated, detail‑oriented Registered Respiratory Therapist who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced hospital environment, handling complex cases, and responding confidently to urgent situations. By joining Novant Health, you will be part of a mission‑driven organization focused on improving health through advanced technology, compassionate care, and a strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.
