Respiratory Therapist II

Novant Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist II to provide high‑quality respiratory care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As an experienced member of the care team, you will deliver advanced respiratory assessment, treatment, and education to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across a variety of clinical settings, including emergency, critical care, and general inpatient units. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals, you will interpret clinical data, perform thorough respiratory assessments, and implement individualized care plans that align with evidence‑based practice and Novant Health protocols.

In this role, you will administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and non‑invasive ventilation, as well as set up, monitor, and troubleshoot invasive mechanical ventilators and related life‑support equipment. You will respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, performing airway management, assisting with intubations, and supporting resuscitation efforts while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety. You will be responsible for accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses within the electronic medical record and for communicating critical changes to the interdisciplinary team.

The Respiratory Therapist II serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, and colleagues by providing education on respiratory disease management, equipment use, and therapeutic techniques that support long‑term health and quality of life. You will precept and mentor less experienced therapists and students, demonstrating professional accountability, critical thinking, and adherence to regulatory and departmental standards.
