Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
**Job Summary:**
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. The RRT performs diagnostic testing, administers respiratory therapies, monitors patient response to treatment, manages ventilators, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
**Requirements:**
* Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
* Current state Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license, if required.
* Current BLS certification required.
* ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications preferred or required per facility policy.
* Recent hospital, ICU, NICU, PICU, emergency department, or acute care respiratory therapy experience preferred.
**Responsibilities:**
* Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
* Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory therapies.
* Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and other respiratory equipment.
* Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling, pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic procedures as assigned.
* Respond to emergency situations, including rapid response and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
* Monitor patient response to therapy and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
* Educate patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and disease management.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
