A full-time Respiratory Therapist opportunity is available at a 256-bed Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Ocala, Florida. This hospital provides advanced acute care services to patients throughout Marion County and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment caring for patients across all age groups.
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing both routine and advanced respiratory care services while working closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team. This role includes setting up, operating, and monitoring acute care ventilators for patients requiring short- and long-term mechanical ventilation, performing respiratory assessments, administering prescribed therapies, and documenting all treatments accurately within the hospital information system. The therapist is expected to work independently when needed while maintaining a strong commitment to quality patient care and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities:
Deliver routine and advanced respiratory therapy treatments for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.
Set up, operate, and monitor acute care mechanical ventilators.
Assess patient respiratory status and evaluate responses to therapy.
Administer respiratory medications and treatments according to physician orders.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all respiratory care services.
Monitor equipment performance and ensure proper operation of respiratory devices.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes.
Function independently and effectively in the absence of departmental leadership.
Follow all hospital policies, respiratory care standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of recent acute care Registered Respiratory Therapist experience required; Certified Respiratory Therapist experience will also be considered.
Associate degree or completion of a vocational respiratory therapy program required.
Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and Florida State Respiratory Therapist license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills.
