Position Overview: As a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist at our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to pediatric patients with respiratory disorders. You will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, treat, and monitor pediatric patients, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric patients with respiratory conditions to determine their specific needs and treatment plans.
  2. Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans for pediatric patients, considering their age, condition, and unique requirements.
  3. Ventilation Support: Administer and monitor mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and other respiratory therapies as needed for pediatric patients.
  4. Medication Administration: Administer medications, aerosolized treatments, and inhalation therapies to pediatric patients, ensuring proper dosages and monitoring for adverse reactions.
  5. Patient Education: Educate pediatric patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
  6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously monitor pediatric patients' progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all relevant information in medical records.
  7. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond swiftly to respiratory emergencies involving pediatric patients, providing life-saving interventions and support.
  8. Equipment Management: Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order for pediatric patients.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with pediatric physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
  10. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, guidelines, and protocols while providing care to pediatric patients.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience within last 5 years in an Acute Care setting
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred.
  • American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion and patience in working with pediatric patients and their families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.
