Transitions Healthcare Washington PA is seeking a compassionate, skilled Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our specialized pulmonary care team. As a member of our respiratory team, you'll work with patients requiring advanced pulmonary services, including:
- Ventilator management
- High-flow oxygen therapy
- BiPAP and CPAP therapy
- Oxygen therapy and centralized suction
- Respiratory failure and complex pulmonary disease management
- Ventilator weaning
- Post-operative pulmonary rehabilitation
- Neuromuscular and neurological respiratory conditions
Essential Responsibilities
- Assess residents' respiratory status and provide appropriate respiratory care and treatment.
- Perform tracheostomy care, including tracheal suctioning and routine tracheostomy tube changes.
- Initiate, monitor, and manage ventilator support in accordance with physician orders.
- Administer respiratory medications via nebulizer, metered-dose inhaler (MDI), and other prescribed delivery methods.
- Perform chest physiotherapy (CPT), cough assist treatments, and other airway clearance therapies as ordered.
- Monitor oxygen therapy and evaluate resident response to treatment.
- Accurately document treatments, assessments, and changes in resident condition.
- Ensure respiratory equipment is properly maintained and functioning safely.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and changes in resident condition while following facility policies and clinical best practices
- Provide respiratory care for ventilator-dependent and medically complex pulmonary patients.
- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and monitor patient response to treatment.
- Assist with ventilator management, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
- Participate in ventilator weaning programs and post-operative pulmonary rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized respiratory care plans.
- Educate residents, families, and staff regarding respiratory treatments and equipment.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation while following all regulatory and infection prevention standards.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program required.
- Current Pennsylvania Respiratory Therapist License in good standing required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, rehabilitation center, or acute care setting preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
