The Senior Respiratory Therapist position coordinates, administers and documents diagnostic and therapeutic services on inpatients and outpatients, pediatric through geriatric, to evaluate and/or treat the cardiopulmonary system. This position collaborates with various hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, and family members regarding treatment regimens and responses. This position performs arterial blood gas specimen processing, testing, reporting, quality control, and maintenance of the blood gas machines. The incumbent conducts quality improvement monitoring, policy and procedure review, compile statistical reports, and perform in-servicing and clerical duties. Supervises respiratory services on the day, evening and night shifts as directed. This position provides direct patient care customary to staff therapists as required, including bedside and outpatient bronchoscopies.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the respiratory therapy department as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served.
Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, knowing their indications and contraindications.
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees on respective shift, under supervision of the manager.
Assists Manager of Respiratory Care with departmental training and orientation programs, including periodic equipment in services to respiratory and nursing staff.
Evaluates work performance of employees and makes recommendations for hiring, promotions, demotions, transfer and other personnel actions, including disciplinary action and suspension. Investigates any incident reported on his/her shift; keeps departmental manager informed of details of such occurrences.
Be a member of the "code team" responding to arrest situations and CAT calls.
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.

Associates Degree Respiratory Required
Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
2 years respiratory care experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Respiratory Therapist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required and
Registered Respiatory Therapist Licensed State of Florida within 1 Year Required
BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Broad knowledge of management supervision and personnel guidance techniques
Complete knowledge of all types and techniques of administering inhalation gases and medications and remedial measures to relieve adverse developments.
