Job Description
Are you currently enrolled in Respiratory Therapy program and interested in gaining hands-on experience in your chosen field of study? Then the Student- Respiratory Therapy Assistant (RTA) position is the perfect one for you.
Our RTA positions give Respiratory students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in a clinical setting. These positions include:
• Starting and discontinuing therapies for patients • Learning about patient record keeping • Learning how to properly utilize Respiratory Therapy equipment
In addition to gaining clinical knowledge and experience, our RTAs are uniquely positioned to move into official Registered Respiratory Therapy roles at Indiana University Health. These team members get an outstanding opportunity to experience all the different ways Respiratory Therapists impact patient lives for the better.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need to have:
• Strong customer service skills • Effective written and verbal communication skills • The ability to deal with confidential patient information • Basic computer skills and ability to work in EMR • A basic knowledge of infection control procedure • The ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams to insure optimal patient care • Strong organizational skills • Current enrollment in a CoARC Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care and regionally accredited respiratory care program • Current active Respiratory Student Permit from the state of Indiana • Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
