Under the supervision of a licensed and Registered Respiratory Therapist, the Respiratory Therapy Student Tech assists in providing respiratory care services in accordance with physicians' orders, department policies, and established respiratory therapy protocols. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating basic respiratory care services for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across all hospital areas, including the emergency department. Excluded therapies may include ventilator and BiPAP management, except under direct supervision.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Must be passing all currently enrolled Respiratory Care courses per program standards

License/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Mandatory Reporter
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year from hire
• If specializing in pediatric/neonatal critical care medicine must have PALS or NRP Certification within 1 year from hire
