Restaurant & Bar Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial Restaurant & Bar Manager to lead the launch and daily operations of a brand new bar and restaurant in a prime center city Philadelphia location. This is a rare opportunity to take the helm, pre-opening, of a fully built out space and play a pivotal role in bringing its success. Huge potential!

We are looking for someone with new restaurant launch experience. The ideal candidate has successfully built teams, helped develop operating procedures, established vendor relationships, implemented systems, and helped create a strong culture from day one.

Our restaurant features an indoor dining room, large bar area, and a stunning outdoor terrace overlooking the Schuylkill River. This position offers tremendous growth potential for someone who wants to help build something special from the beginning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of pre-opening and day-to-day restaurant and bar operations.
  • Assist ownership in preparing the restaurant for a successful grand opening.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train all kitchen staff, bartenders, and food runners.
  • Build a positive, team oriented culture focused on exceptional hospitality.
  • Develop operational systems, service standards, training materials, and opening procedures.
  • Experience with implementing and managing Toast POS system, including setup, menu programming, employee permissions, reporting, and ongoing optimization.
  • Coordinate with chefs and ownership to ensure efficient kitchen operations and outstanding food quality.
  • Establish and manage relationships with food, beverage, liquor, produce, and equipment vendors.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory management, ordering, and cost controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and liquor licensing regulations.
  • Create staff schedules and manage labor to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve issues quickly while maintaining exceptional service standards.
  • Analyze restaurant performance and work with ownership to improve profitability, efficiency, and guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Required: Experience opening or helping launch a new restaurant, bar, or hospitality concept.
  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience with increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven success hiring, building, and managing kitchen staff, bartenders, and food runners.
  • Hands on experience implementing and managing Toast POS, including initial setup and configuration.
  • Strong network of food, beverage, liquor, and restaurant vendors is highly preferred.
  • Experience creating operational systems, SOPs, and training programs for new restaurants.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, food safety, and labor management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced startup environment where flexibility and problem solving are essential.
  • Passion for hospitality and building an outstanding guest experience from day one.
