HSS is currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager for a high-volume seafood restaurant and scratch kitchen located in Picayune, Mississippi.
We are looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily back-of-house operations of a well-established seafood restaurant specializing in fresh seafood and French-Cajun cuisine. This 250-seat restaurant serves between 500 and 1,000 guests daily, making this an excellent opportunity for a strong culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Job Duties
- Oversee all daily back-of-house operations to ensure efficient kitchen performance and exceptional food quality.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and develop kitchen team members.
- Create staff schedules and ensure proper staffing levels.
- Supervise food preparation while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards.
- Manage food ordering, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Monitor labor costs, food costs, waste, and inventory to meet financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Work alongside the team during busy service periods to support kitchen operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Executive Sous Chef, or similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant.
- Experience overseeing scratch kitchen operations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of labor management, food cost controls, inventory management, and scheduling.
- Proven leadership experience with hiring, training, and developing kitchen staff.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen maintenance.
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Experience with seafood concepts or French-Cajun cuisine is a plus.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 annually, based on experience.
