We're searching for a food prep cook who will work with our head cook/chef to prep a variety of foods and stock food stations with ingredients and condiments. You'll be responsible for keeping all food stations and equipment neat, clean, and sanitized. You must read recipe directions in English and operate kitchen equipment, including sharp knives and measuring tools. Expect some lifting, bending, and standing on your feet during your shift, as well as the ability to take on other duties as needed. Responsibilities: • Observe all company-required food safety guidelines and protocols in the areas where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is utilized • Perform other basic cooking duties as necessary, such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups, reducing sauces, and assisting other cooks in the kitchen if needed • Maintain a clean, organized prep area and workstation at all times, and sanitize equipment after each shift or when we close • Understand recipe instructions, measurements, meal charts, and labels written in English and use all measuring tools properly • Prepare recipes using the proper measurements needed for condiments and wash dice, and slice fruits and vegetables, and meats, for the variety of meals we prepare for customers Qualifications: • Have some experience prepping food and the ability to work under the head chef/cook with minor supervision • Experienced in the proper handling of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and other kitchen tools • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time, as well as lift 35 to 50 pounds, pull heavier items, and bend frequently • Understanding of how to read recipes, meal charts, measuring tools, and labels in English • We'd prefer it if you have an associate's degree (AA), or equivalent, but it's not required for the job Compensation: $15 - $17 hourly
