Restoration & Floor-Care Equipment Service Technician

Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.46

A day in the life

Start your shift by reviewing service orders and the day’s repair queue in our scheduling software. You’ll greet customers in person or over the phone, open new work orders, and get hands-on with diagnostics—leveraging test instruments, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer repair manuals. As repairs progress, you’ll prepare estimates and bids, coordinate parts with vendors, and align shop workload with fellow technicians. Throughout the day, you’ll keep your bay organized and safe, support teammates when they need a hand, and aim to exceed our quality and productivity goals.

Equipment you’ll service

  • Truck-mounted carpet cleaning units
  • Portable carpet extractors
  • Hard-surface floor cleaning machines
  • Duct cleaning equipment
  • Deodorizing equipment
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Air scrubbers and air movers
  • HEPA vacuums
  • 2-, 3-, and 4-cylinder gas engines
  • Basic automotive systems (foundational automotive experience)

What you’ll do

  • Diagnose and repair systems and components across commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment—accurately and efficiently.
  • Use testing equipment, troubleshooting resources, and OEM repair manuals to drive root-cause solutions.
  • Evaluate, document, and communicate additional service needs discovered during inspection.
  • Meet or beat department quality and productivity targets.
  • Follow direction from supervisors and collaborate effectively with service and store teams; assist other technicians as needed.
  • Use and maintain shop tools and equipment properly.
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe; consistently use safety glasses, hearing protection, and required PPE.
  • Create service orders for incoming repair items and keep appointments current in scheduling software.
  • Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and via email to schedule service and review repair status.
  • Prepare bids and present clear, professional repair estimates.
  • Coordinate shop workload with other technicians to balance priorities.
  • Order parts and coordinate with vendors to keep jobs moving.
  • Work closely with other store employees to coordinate service work.

What you bring

  • Experience: 2+ years preferred in any of the following—commercial cleaning/restoration equipment; small engine repair and maintenance; pressure washer repair and maintenance; or vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Licensing: Valid driver license with a clean driving record—no DUIs or Careless/Reckless driving on MVR (3 years).
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Tools:Own a basic set of mechanic’s tools.
  • Technical strengths:High mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and strong diagnostic/problem-solving ability.

  • Performance:Ability to focus and deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Physical:Able to lift 50+ lbs on a regular basis.
  • Professionalism:Professional appearance and demeanor; strong written and verbal communication; basic computer skills.
  • Schedule:Occasional overtime as needed.
  • Bonus:Bilingual in English/Spanish.
