GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties for community corrections programs, including maintaining records, processing case documentation, assisting staff with scheduling and reporting, and providing customer service to clients, staff, and the public. With regular attendance, ensures accurate data entry and compliance with established policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards to support the effective operation of services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Perform administrative duties associated with random drug testing including, but not limited to, checking in clients, completing required documents, scheduling, and distributing test results.
  • Prepare invoices for Community Corrections fees.
  • Collect program service fees from clients, prepare and complete deposit, and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain data related to the number of client cases and their disposition for informational, grant, and audit purposes.
  • Process accounts payable invoices within guidelines, track data for budget tracking purposes.
  • Update departmental database, NCJIS, etc.
  • Assist with preparing correspondence, notices, and other written communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 2 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and other software related to data management, communication, and other common business processes.
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures for confidentiality while adapting to evolving privacy standards and technologies.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within a team.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles and techniques.

The work environment is typically a professional office setting, involving regular use of computers, standard office equipment, and frequent interaction with both internal staff and the public in a structured, task-oriented atmosphere. On a daily basis, Community Corrections Clerk may face mental and physical stress because they are subject to danger and possible harm during frequent, direct contact with individuals who have been charge or convicted of committing crimes. Performance of the job duties frequently requires meeting in-person with inmates of the Sarpy County Correctional Center who may be emotionally instable and/or detoxing from drugs and/or alcohol.
