Under the supervision and direction of the Operations Administrator or designee, the Lead Admissions Specialist oversees and manages the daily operations and performance of the Admissions Specialists. This person ensures accurate data entry, the timely processing of bonds, the seamless transfer of inmates, and the proper release of individuals. This position provides guidance, training, and support to Admissions Specialists while maintaining compliance with legal and procedural standards. This position is essential in coordinating clerical tasks, addressing workflow challenges, and promoting efficiency and accuracy in all assigned duties to support the efficient operation of the facility
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote a positive image of the Sarpy County Department of Corrections.
Quality control of booking/releases.
Provide leadership guidance to the Admissions Specialists.
Ensure that Admissions Specialists adhere to departmental policies, procedures, legal guidelines during the inmate intake and release process.
Ensure coverage and reduce the need for overtime.
Bolster staffing during peak hours when most of the workload is taking place.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (i.e. Lead) in Admissions by overseeing and providing training, instructions, and assistance to Admissions Specialists.
Collaboratively researches and resolves issues.
Liaise with County or District Court to resolve issues/questions on court paperwork.
Enter all court information from court proceedings into the jail management system. Complete extraditions of newly arrested inmates, coordinate with the demand agency.
This is a working lead position and is responsible for performing all of the essential functions of the Admissions Specialist job classification.
Report to assigned worksite with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Peripheral Duties
Attend meetings and training sessions, as directed.
Serve as a member of various committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Two (2) years of experience as an Admissions Specialist with Sarpy County.
Bona fide work experience training paid subordinates preferred or supervisory experience.
Special Requirements
Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of employment.
Must be bondable.
Must successfully complete the Jail Admissions Specialist training program & probationary period.
Must successfully pass comprehensive background checks.
No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history within the past seven (7) years.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/remain stationary, talk and hear (i.e. communicate / exchange information), and operate/manipulate equipment (e.g. use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls). The employee is occasionally required to walk/move about, stand (i.e. remain upright), stoop, bend, climb, kneel (i.e. position self), and reach. The employee must lift and/or move office supplies and files on a regular basis.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and smell. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close and color vision as well as the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk (i.e. verbal exchange / exchange information) and hear (i.e. exchange information accurately) within normal ranges.
Work is generally performed indoors in a secure detention facility. Work involves the potential for contact with or exposure to blood borne pathogens or other body fluids and infectious materials. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet yet may become moderate to loud occasionally.
Subject to call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven days a week in the event of a crisis. During an emergency as declared by the Director or designee, employees' shifts, hours and duties may be established and leave provisions may be cancelled or restricted.
