Position Summary:
The Retail Coordinator serves customers shopping in the Girl Scout store, responds to phone calls and emails, fulfills orders for the online store, and supports the administrative functions of the Council. This individual is a people-person who connects with members and volunteers while also managing the details of a store and front desk—deliveries, mail, inventory, and customer service. This individual represents Girl Scouts to all who shop in the store and visit the Leadership Center.
Job Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt/Part-Time
Pay Rate: $17/hour
Expected hours: 24-32 hours/week
Location: Madison, WI
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides exceptional customer service by assisting members, volunteers, and customers with product selection, purchases, and questions.
- Processes retail transactions accurately, including sales, returns, exchanges, and cash handling in accordance with council procedures.
- Receives, stocks, organizes, and maintains merchandise to ensure the retail space is clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
- Assists with inventory counts, restocking, and preparation for seasonal promotions, product programs, and special events.
- Supports the council's mission by creating a welcoming retail experience and directing members and volunteers to appropriate resources and staff when needed.
- Fulfills and ships online retail orders.
- Accurately completes retail paperwork, such as purchase orders and daily deposits.
- Responds to phone calls and emails from members and customers while using Council resources to find answers and provide assistance. Logging customer interactions Badgerland’s Customer Relationship Management software in Salesforce.
- Provide administrative support for the product programs, including data entry in vendor systems, maintenance of annual product program records, and department mail, telephone, and email correspondence.
- Supports property reservations at the Madison Leadership Center.
- Manages and orders office supplies, including copier needs.
- Supports the administrative work of Badgerland cross-departmentally.
- Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience is not required.
- Works within the established budget, and maintains expenses and receipts as needed.
- Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and Wisconsin Badgerland Girl Scouts mission, vision, and values.
Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of one-year successful work experience in a retail or customer service role.
- Retail experience assisting customers and maintaining accurate inventory using a point-of-sale system.
- Other combinations of education, with relevant experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position, will be considered.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability and sensitivity working with youth and persons of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience working with cloud-based platforms and Salesforce (or other CRM systems) preferred.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a bias towards execution and action.
- Outstanding project management skills and operates with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset.
- High capacity to master and leverage data tracking platforms.
- Skilled relationship builder with a demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across difference and across every level of the organization.
- A proactive team player willing to pitch in at all levels while also holding a big picture, systems thinking mindset.
- Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of curiosity and a learning orientation; someone who leads and operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Spanish/Bilingual skills a plus

Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Anticipated time away from office is 10%.
- Possess a valid drivers’ License and proof of insurance.
- Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
- Must be able to work in an outside environment, where you have the ability to walk/hike daily, at various grades, elevations, and on uneven terrain.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Operate office equipment manually.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
