Chief Accountant

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Chief Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the company's accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory and tax regulations, and supporting our manufacturing operations through sound financial management and robust cost accounting. You will work closely with the Chief Finance Manager and cross-functional teams, contributing to the company's continued growth and operational excellence in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Main Responsibilities:

Oversee the general ledger and manage month-end and year-end closing processes.

Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with Latvian accounting legislation and tax regulations.

Coordinate with the State Revenue Service (VID) and ensure the timely submission of all statutory tax filings, including VAT and Corporate Income Tax returns.

Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and accounting for bill of materials (BOM), work in progress (WIP), and finished goods.

Monitor standard versus actual costing and support financial analysis of production costs.

Manage payroll tax reporting and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Coordinate external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.

Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.

Manage R&D cost tracking and capitalization, and support grant and funding reporting where applicable.

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Maintain and continuously improve internal controls and accounting processes.

Requirements:

Higher education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.

Strong knowledge of Latvian accounting standards and tax regulations.

Knowledge of IFRS will be considered an advantage.

Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365. Experience with 1C, SAP, or NetSuite will also be considered.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Fluent Latvian and good English language skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Considered an Advantage:

Professional accounting qualification (ACCA or equivalent).

Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory accounting.

Experience with R&D accounting, capitalization, and EU or national grant reporting.

Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or defense industries.
