Retail Real Estate Controller Opportunity | Houston, TX Well-established real estate investment and development company is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing portfolio of retail real estate assets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
Analyze property performance, profitability, operating costs, and ROI.
Support acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and due diligence efforts.
Manage banking relationships and liquidity planning.
Drive process improvements and oversee accounting systems and reporting.
Mentor and develop accounting staff while partnering closely with executive leadership.
Requirements
5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
Real estate accounting experience required.
Experience supporting retail shopping centers, commercial real estate, or property investment portfolios.
Yardi experience required.
Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Ideal Background
Experience managing accounting for multiple retail centers, shopping centers, or commercial real estate properties.
Hands-on accounting leader who can operate strategically while remaining involved in day-to-day operations.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented real estate environment
