RETAIL REGIONAL DIRECTOR, REGION 72

The Regional Director is responsible for the profit and loss of the assigned district, while acting within the scope of Company objectives and policies to accomplish goals.

Job Responsibility

Leads retail teams, including District Managers and store management, by ensuring:

• A culture that fosters Dollar General's brand.
• Consistent administration of human resources policies & practices.
• Exceptional customer service through the development of fun and friendly stores.
• Annual sales growth that meets or exceeds Company targets through exceptional operations and efficient flow processes.
• Superior visual merchandising presentation, product management and signing/pricing execution in each store.
• Effective planning and execution of Company objectives.
• Maximization of performance & productivity through Store Managers' commitment to sensible store scheduling.
• Development of Store Manager through proactive recruitment, selection and training of team members.
• Protection of Company assets through loss prevention and expense efficiencies.
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities within operational areas (i.e., distribution flow improvements, merchandising display efforts, store growth and real estate site selection, recruiting strategy, training and development priorities, employee relations, customer experience, systems implementation, etc.).
• Consistent and effective communication of Company priorities to store teams.
• Training and development to create strong visual merchandising presentations and product placements.
• Utilizing technology to train and develop strong communication avenues to keep teams informed of operational tasks.
• Develop District Managers to ensure consistent execution of Dollar General expectations to provide exceptionally clean and organized stores for our customers and teams.
• Inclusive and on-going Company recognition programs are in place that foster a fun and rewarding environment for team members.

Job Qualifications

• Demonstrated results-oriented leadership including the ability to model total development and serve as a steward of Dollar General's mission and values.
• Demonstrated financial analysis skills to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets, and control inventory.
• Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by leveraging resources, maintaining tough expense control, managing merchandise effectively, and setting clear expectations.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills including a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service, the ability to react appropriately under pressure, the ability to apply good judgment in ambiguous situations, and demonstrated flexibility/adaptability.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in collaboration with others to achieve objectives in a participative management style.
• Strong proficiency in verbal, written and technical communication abilities.
• Ability to travel weekly in a company-provided vehicle with limited overnight stays.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with four+ years of multi-unit management experience and seven+ years of retail with full profit and loss experience preferred; equivalent education and experience combination will be considered.
• Previous retail experience should be with discount, convenience, grocery or similar environment.

License/Certification Required

Valid driver's license
