Retail Strategy & Systems Manager

Rainbow Blossom was started in 1977 by Rob and Pumpkin Auerbach and is now led by their daughter, Summer Auerbach. We're proud to have been part of the Louisville community for nearly five decades. Our mission is to be a resource for improving the quality of life for ourselves, our community, and our company.

We are a values-driven organization that supports health, wellness, and individuality. We hire people from all walks of life and aim to create a workplace that is professional, supportive, and meaningful. The way we work matters just as much as what we do, and we look for people who reflect that in how they show up every day.

Position Overview

The Retail Strategy & Systems Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for improving how our retail business runs across purchasing, pricing, inventory, systems, and reporting. This role connects strategy to execution-making sure our stores have the right product, at the right time, at the right price, supported by systems that are clear, reliable, and built to scale.

You will lead the Category Management and Data Systems teams and work closely with Store Leadership and Operations to improve consistency, performance, and decision-making across all locations. This role has a direct impact on sales performance, inventory health, and the tools and systems that support daily operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead category and purchasing strategy to improve sales, margin, and product availability
  • Improve forecasting and inventory accuracy to reduce out-of-stocks and overstock
  • Develop and maintain pricing strategies aligned with business goals
  • Use sales, margin, and inventory data to identify opportunities and guide decisions
  • Oversee retail systems and tools (including ECRS platforms) and help teams use them effectively
  • Build dashboards, KPIs, and reporting that support better decision-making
  • Improve processes, reduce manual work, and strengthen data consistency across systems
  • Lead Category Management and Data Systems teams
  • Work closely with Store Managers and Operations leadership to support strong execution

The right person for this role is someone who naturally brings structure, clarity, and follow-through to complex work. You are comfortable working across teams, asking questions, and turning information into action.

We're looking for someone who reflects how we work every day. Skills matter, but how you show up matters just as much!

  • Customer Centric – You make decisions with the customer experience in mind
  • Collaborative – You work with others and share information to move things forward
  • Resourceful – You solve problems with practical, creative thinking
  • Engaged – You take ownership and follow through
  • Positive – You focus on solutions and opportunities
  • Reliable – You are consistent, dependable, and accountable

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of management experience (including hiring, coaching, and accountability), 5+ years of retail experience (grocery required), and a strong understanding of inventory, pricing, purchasing, and retail financials. Experience using data to drive decisions is required, and experience improving systems or operational processes is preferred. Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across teams are essential.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting directly to the Owner. The role is primarily in-person and includes occasional physical activity such as lifting up to 50 lbs, and time spent in both office and retail environments.

We offer PTO, medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), and employee discount.

Rainbow Blossom is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This description reflects the general nature of the role and may evolve as business needs change.
