Position Summary
The Returns Warehouse Associate is responsible for processing returned merchandise, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring products are inspected, sorted, and handled according to company standards. This position also supports general warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment, to help maintain an efficient and organized warehouse.
Primary Responsibilities
Returns
- Inspect returned products for accuracy, damage, and resale eligibility.
- Verify returned items against packing slips, return documentation, and system records.
- Sort and process returned merchandise according to company procedures.
- Restock saleable products in the appropriate warehouse locations.
- Identify, separate, and document damaged or unsaleable products.
- Accurately enter return information into warehouse inventory systems.
- Apply new labels or repackage returned products when needed.
- Maintain an organized and clean returns processing area.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies or unusual returns to supervisors.
Warehouse
- Perform quality inspections on incoming and outgoing shipments
- Pick, pack, and handle materials for orders
- Process packages for shipment, including packaging, labeling, stacking, and palletizing
- Complete tasks such as receiving, loading, unloading, stacking, and staging of shipments
- Load and unload products and materials to and from designated storage area, such as racks, shelves, or vehicles using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
- Pack product on pallets and secures with protective materials such as strapping and stretch wrap to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported
- Maintain accurate inventory by reconciling system records with physical inventory counts
- Ensure accuracy of paperwork and that all required information is stored according to company procedure
- Ensure proper housekeeping (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.)
- Participate in quality improvement processes
Qualifications
- Ability to inspect products carefully and identify damage, discrepancies, or quality concerns
- Previous returns processing, inventory, or quality control experience preferred
- Previous forklift operating experience required
- Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and a willingness to learn
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and maintaining high standards
- Flexibility to perform a variety of warehouse duties based on operational needs
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequently use hands to handle, grasp, and move products
- Bend, squat, reach, kneel, and climb as needed
- Safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Operate warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment
