The City of Norfolk's Parking Division is an enterprise fund, which falls under the Department of General Services. The Parking Division operates over 19,000 public parking spaces located in 14 garages, 10 lots, and more than 500 street spaces.
The Department of General Services is seeking to hire a Meter Revenue Technician to manage the revenue collection, technical support, and structural upkeep of city parking facilities. Under general supervision, this role ensures fiscal integrity by performing daily revenue collection from digital meters and pay stations under strict chain-of custody protocols, as well as responding to emergencies to verify system functionality. Additionally, the technician performs a variety of electrical and mechanical tasks to maintain parking access systems, executes light facility construction and structural maintenance, and handles comprehensive groundskeeping and facility upkeep to keep all locations safe and operational.

Education/Experience
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8:00AM - 4:30PM (40 hours a week)
Occasional Overtime

Retirement
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
