    Job Description

    This position is primarily remote with an onsite expectation averaging twice per month.

    General Summary:    
    The Director of Revenue Cycle Innovation provides operational leadership to all projects and initiatives which revenue cycle owns or is resourced. They elevate the productivity and effectiveness of the Revenue Cycle Innovation team through coaching, mentoring, and supporting employees to do their best work. The director leverages market research and industry best practices to deliver an efficient, cost effective, and robust revenue cycle. This includes ensuring projects and initiatives are completed on time, on budget, and with the stated benefit. The director makes strategic, data-driven decisions that prioritize initiatives and allocate resources in service of revenue cycle and organizational goals. The director proactively eliminates roadblocks and is adept at leading employees through change. Under their leadership, employees feel connected to their work, our mission, and each other.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Lead and manage people resources. Select and develop staff within designated area of responsibility. Identify professional development plans and oversee progression for all direct reports. 

    • Follow established revenue cycle processes and protocols for effective team leadership and management. Define roles and responsibilities for each member of the team including escalation protocol and decision-making authority. Implement individual improvement plans, as needed, to meet goals.

    • Identify, develop, and monitor progress toward team and departmental goals that are aligned with strategic goals.

    • Foster teamwork and camaraderie within revenue cycle and with departments across the organization.

    • Develop processes for rigorous data analysis to ensure the decisions are timely, effective and deliver value to the organization.

    • Track project and initiative outcomes over time to ensure the ROI is documented, maintained, and tied to a strategic goal.

    • Resource and schedule projects and initiatives in a way that balances resource constraints with the needs of the organization.

    • Work effectively with all staff, including providers, senior executives, operational leadership, and front-line staff.

    • Collaborate closely with information management. Develop relationships and processes that allow revenue cycle and information management teams to function optimally and cohesively.

    • Demonstrate effective issue resolution and conflict management skills reinforcing a team-focused, solution-oriented culture.

    • Participate in annual revenue cycle strategic planning leveraging data to assess ROI and develop plans that support revenue cycle goals.

    • Develop and implement clear, effective communication plans that facilitate the optimal flow of information within revenue cycle and across the organization.

    • Pursue professional opportunities and maintain networks that enhance professional knowledge, advancement, and excellence within revenue cycle. Guide and mentor others to do the same.

    • Other job functions as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in Business, Finance or Healthcare Operations preferred.

    • Minimum of 7 years revenue cycle experience in a medium to large healthcare facility with at least 5 in a leadership role. Experience building new teams and quickly fostering team cohesion preferred.

    • Epic certification in one or more revenue applications required. Experience overseeing complex, enterprise-wide healthcare IT projects preferred.

    • Project Management certification with 3+ years of experience preferred. Excellent project management, change management and prioritization required.

    • Effective communication, conflict resolution and problem resolution skills, including facilitation of groups and expert presentation skills.

    • Effective listening skills to understand various perspectives, synthesize findings, establish common goals, and  achieve results.

    • Excellent analytical and process/systems thinking skills required. Experience with quantitative analysis involving large data sets preferred. 

    • Demonstrated skills in the use of MS Project, Excel, Visio, Power Point, and other Microsoft Office products.

    • Excellent written and verbal skills.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to understand and articulate the needs of the customer and assist them in making the necessary decisions to accomplish their objectives.

    • Demonstrated ability in earning creditability with leaders across the healthcare organization, including clinicians.

    • Ability to challenge team members to perform against designated timelines in a team-oriented manner.

    • Experience in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.

    Education

    Pay Range

    $130,000.00-$214,510.40 Salary

    At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions. In addition to base salary, Lurie Children’s offer a comprehensive rewards package that may include differentials for some hourly employees, leadership incentives for select roles, health and retirement benefits, and wellbeing programs.
