Description

Markon is seeking a Reverse Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by analyzing sophisticated malware and adversary capabilities to identify threats targeting mission-critical systems. This role performs reverse engineering of malicious software, develops threat detection signatures, and analyzes adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to enhance defensive capabilities. Working closely with cyber operations and mission stakeholders, the Reverse Engineer provides technical expertise that supports threat detection, risk mitigation, and the protection of Intelligence Community networks and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform static and dynamic analysis of malicious binaries to identify functionality, capabilities, and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs).
  • Reverse engineer malware using assembly language to understand adversary behavior and identify tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Develop and maintain malware detection signatures using YARA, SNORT, and other detection technologies.
  • Analyze Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) activity and emerging malware to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Research and characterize malware capabilities, persistence mechanisms, command-and-control communications, and exploitation techniques.
  • Conduct computer network analysis to identify malicious activity and support threat detection efforts.
  • Collaborate with cyber operators, analysts, and engineers to investigate threats and develop defensive solutions.
  • Produce technical reports, malware assessments, and threat intelligence documentation to support operational decision-making.
  • Stay current with evolving malware techniques, reverse engineering methodologies, and cybersecurity trends.

Qualifications

Required

  • TS/SCI with Active Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor's degree and 11+ years of experience in reverse engineering, malware analysis, or cybersecurity.
  • CISSP or equivalent DoD-approved cybersecurity certification required.
  • Proficiency analyzing malicious binaries and reverse engineering software using assembly language.
  • Experience identifying and analyzing Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) activity.
  • Experience developing malware detection signatures using YARA, SNORT, or comparable detection technologies.
  • Experience identifying areas of cyber risk and developing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with computer networking and adversary Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Desired

  • Experience with reverse engineering tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, x64dbg, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense cyber operations.
  • Experience with digital forensics, incident response, or threat hunting.
  • Experience developing scripts or automation using Python or other scripting languages.

Salary Range

USD $185,000.00 - USD $195,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
