    Position Overview: The Review & Reinforcement (R&R) Fellow provides academic support for Organic (CHEM 213) and Biological Organic (CHEM 214) Chemistry two courses that are an essential component to the premedical curriculum. The fellow, typically a former postbac student from the prior cohort, supports the current students in the Bryn Mawr Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program.

    Benefits & Appointment Period: This part-time, temporary, position has an anticipated schedule of 10 hours per week during the academic year (9-month position). The estimated appointment period will run from August 2026 through May 2027. Candidates will be eligible for pro-rated Paid Time Off (PTO: vacation, holiday, sick, etc.) in this role.

    Characteristic Responsibilities:

    Course Preparation & Faculty Collaboration

    • The fellow attends lectures, or watches recordings, for CHEM 213 in the fall semester and CHEM 214 in the spring semester, refreshing the fellow's knowledge of the material and becoming familiar with the professor's current methods and content.

    • The fellow meets with the professor regularly to discuss overall goals for the course and to gain any clarification on topics covered in lecture.

    Student Instruction & Academic Support

    • The fellow conducts regular review sessions for the current students, paying particular attention to practice problems that the fellow creates.

    • The fellow answers questions about these practice problems and other components of the course with the aim of preparing students for the next quiz or exam.

    • The fellow may provide additional help to students who are struggling on a one-on-one basis with leadership approval (in isolated cases), but the regular review sessions are conducted in a group setting.

    Review Session Expectations

    • Review sessions occur at minimum of twice a week for one hour each, and total hours worked will be approximately 8-10 hours per week.

    • These sessions shall be both in-person and occasionally virtual, with the aim of meeting a range of learning styles.

    • Timesheets shall be turned in to the appropriate office on a regular basis, in accordance with the Payroll schedule.

    • May perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors' degree from Bryn Mawr College is required.

    • Prior attendance in both Organic Chemistry (CHEM 213) & Biological Organic Chemistry (CHEM 214) is highly recommended for this position.

    • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar office applications is required.

    • Understanding and appreciation of the intellectual, emotional, social and psychological development of students in a diverse community committed to intellectual rigor.

    • Ability to work effectively in different organizational and cultural contexts, and the ability to reach different cultural groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

    • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
