Job Title: RF Design Engineer – Small Cell Deployment
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid: Onsite Tues–Thurs / Remote Mon & Fri)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $52.00/hour
Travel: ~20% local travel + 1 trip/month to Denver or Seattle (expenses covered)

We are seeking a skilled RF Design Engineer to support small cell deployment projects within the Desert Southwest District. This role will focus on RF design, field testing, and documentation for outdoor small cell and DAS networks. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, construction, and customer teams and must be open to limited travel, including occasional trips to Denver or Seattle.
Design DAS and small cell networks using propagation tools (Atoll, iBwave)
Conduct CW testing, analyze data, and prepare technical documentation
Evaluate node candidates, review A&E drawings, and validate closeout packages
Design and modify AC/DC node power configurations in AutoCAD
Develop wiring diagrams and bill of materials for deployment teams
Maintain and update internal databases for RF equipment and site records
Perform system optimization, commissioning, and troubleshooting using tools like spectrum analyzers, pilot scanners, and power meters
Ensure compliance with FCC, OSHA, and local regulations
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers throughout project lifecycles
Contribute to process innovation and support new technology trials
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (MSEE preferred)
2–4 years of RF engineering experience in wireless, small cell, or DAS environments
Proficiency in Atoll, iBwave, MapInfo, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
Solid understanding of wireless technologies: LTE, 5G, CBRS, UMTS, CDMA
Experience with small cell RRU equipment, line power design, and commissioning processes
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Experience with test and measurement tools (PIM/Sweep, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
Self-driven and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment
Capable of interpreting blueprints, schematics, and RF documentation
Adaptable to changing project scopes, technologies, and stakeholder needs
