Can be a remote role but if the candidate is close to an office, they can possibly report onsite but that would be up for discussion later in the process.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a dedicated RF Design support team covering the Big East region. This mid-to-senior level role is responsible for executing a variety of project-based tasks, including site modifications and small cell projects.
As a professional in this role, you will own tasks spanning the entire project lifecycle—from initial site review and design, through regulatory and cell build technical documentation, up to the final in-service phase. You will work in close collaboration with Real Estate, Construction, Project Management (PM) teams, and other RF engineers to ensure successful, timely, and compliant project execution.
Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
- End-to-End Project Execution: Manage and support various project-based tasks for RF Design, focusing on modification and small cells projects.
- Network Design & Optimization: Lead the design and optimization of 5GHR (Tanglewood) networks, including performance analysis and troubleshooting.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze 5G mmW and C-Band network KPIs and key parameters to ensure high network reliability and capacity.
- Model Tuning: Perform RF propagation model tuning to improve simulation accuracy across the target markets.
- Data & Tool Management: Utilize advanced data tools, including SQL scripting, VB Scripting, and Google Suite (including advanced Apps Script automation and sheet manipulation) to automate reporting and analyze network data.
- Documentation & Compliance: Review, interpret, and maintain critical regulatory and technical cell build documentation (including ZD/CDs).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a core engineering partner working alongside Real Estate, Construction, PMs, and regional RF engineering teams to drive projects across the finish line.
- Field & Remote Assessments: Perform the vast majority of site reviews remotely, while remaining flexible to travel for on-site field visits when necessary.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills (Most Important)
- RF Theory and 5GHR (Tanglewood) Expertise (5–7 years of experience): Advanced knowledge of RF theory and practical applications, with extensive experience in the design, optimization, and parameter adjustment of 5GHR (Tanglewood) networks.
- Network Performance & KPI Management (5–7 years of experience): Deep understanding of 5G mmW and C-Band network KPIs and key parameters to maintain network integrity.
- Technical Blueprint & Process Knowledge (3 years of experience): General familiarity with the overall network/cell build lifecycle and proven proficiency in reading and interpreting ZD (Zoning Drawings) and CDs (Construction Drawings).
- Operational Excellence: Meticulous attention to detail regarding technical and regulatory documentation, coupled with a high sense of urgency to meet project deadlines.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Model Tuning & Automation: Experience with Model Tuning, SQL scripting, VB Scripting, and advanced Google Suite capabilities (such as Apps Script creation).
- Spectrum Experience: Direct experience working with millimeter wave (mmW) spectrum.
- Carrier Market Knowledge: Recent experience operating within a Telecommunication market.
- Tool Proficiency: Recent hands-on experience using Telecommunication-specific engineering and project systems, including Atoll, Fuze SPM, RFDS, and CQ.
- Regional Familiarity: Knowledge of or residency (current/past) in the Big East territory (e.g., Illinois, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, etc.).
Education & Certifications
- Required: Some completed higher education.
- Preferred: A 4-year degree (preferably in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field) is highly preferred but not strictly required.
Note: Candidate must have previous experience in this role with the company.
