We are recruiting on behalf of a global high-frequency trading leader that is building proprietary wireless hardware entirely from scratch. As they continue investing heavily in next-generation wireless infrastructure, they are seeking an experienced RF Hardware Engineer to help establish and expand their internal RF capability.

You will play a pivotal role in evaluating emerging RF technologies, designing and developing high-performance hardware, and helping shape the future of the firm's wireless communications infrastructure.

Key Details

Role Title: RF Hardware Engineer

Location: Chicago, Illinois (5 days per week onsite)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Compensation: Highly competitive and above market rate (flexible with no predefined upper limit for exceptional candidates)

Key Responsibilities

RF Hardware Development

Design, develop, test, and optimise high-performance RF hardware systems supporting their wireless communications infrastructure.

Technology Evaluation and Benchmarking

Assess and benchmark emerging RF technologies, components, and vendor solutions to identify opportunities for performance improvement and competitive advantage.

Hands-On Laboratory Engineering

Conduct RF measurements, troubleshooting, validation, and performance characterisation using advanced laboratory equipment and methodologies.

Capability Building

Help establish and expand the firm's internal RF engineering capabilities, contributing to technical direction, best practices, and long-term hardware strategy.

Required Skills & Experience

Deep RF Hardware Expertise

15-20+ years of RF circuit design experience, with a proven track record developing high-performance RF hardware systems.

Hands-On Engineering Background

Strong laboratory-based engineering experience, including RF testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.

Wireless Communications Knowledge

Experience working within advanced wireless communications, RF infrastructure, microwave, telecommunications, aerospace, defence, or related technology environments.

Passion for Hardware Development

A genuine enthusiasm for building, testing, and improving physical hardware systems, with a desire to remain close to the technology.

Onsite Commitment

Ability to work onsite in Chicago five days per week.
