Description Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. As a Sr. RF Systems Analysis and Design Engineer, you will own end-to-end modeling and performance analysis of complex satellite links and RF sub-system design, spanning modem, RF front-end, phased array, and space/ground channel models. You will build, maintain, and validate system-level link models that drive architecture, hardware requirements, and on-orbit performance, working closely with phased array, RF communications, EMC, and calibration teams. This role blends analytical modeling, software development, and engagement with real hardware to ensure we hit stringent performance targets at scale. Key job responsibilities - Develop and maintain end-to-end RF system and link models (3GPP style link analysis, access, and feeder links), including link budgets, impairment modeling, and performance trade studies. - Perform system-level simulations of digital phased array architectures and RF signal chains, and correlate against lab and field measurements. - Define and flow down system performance requirements (EIRP, G/T, EVM, ACLR, NF, linearity, beam metrics) to hardware, RFIC, antenna, and firmware teams. - Work with modem, waveform, and MAC/PHY teams to optimize the RF system for throughput, coverage, power, and availability across global deployment scenarios. - Build reusable analysis tools and libraries (e.g., Python/Matlab/C++) to standardize link analysis and scenario sweeps across the org. - Collaborate with test, calibration, and validation teams to design measurement campaigns that close the loop between models and observed performance. - Support architecture reviews and program decisions with clear data visualizations, dashboards, and technical documentation. - Mentor junior engineers in RF system thinking, modeling best practices, and code quality for analysis tools. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. A day in the life You'll collaborate with RF, software, and systems engineers, see your designs and code run on live hardware, and make daily decisions that directly affect the readiness of Leo's payload and terminal products. The systems you build will enable critical data collection, system analysis, and calibration pipelines that ensure Leo hardware performs flawlessly on Earth and in orbit. About the team Our team owns the full performance lifecycle of Leo's antenna systems from early concept testing and calibration to final product release. We operate at the intersection of RF hardware, software automation, and large-scale system integration. You'll work closely with antenna, DSP, and system development engineers, contributing to test frameworks, manufacturing support, and performance validation. We leverage AWS tools and scalable software architectures to accelerate development, automate validation, and deliver reliable test systems used across the entire Leo organization. If you want to work on real hardware, influence product performance, and see your work scale to millions of users worldwide this is the place to do it. Basic Qualifications - Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust - Experience with Linux/Unix - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes Preferred Qualifications - Experience with distributed systems at scale Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Amazon

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
