Job Description

Work with a production team to perform RF and electronic testing, troubleshooting, and assembly on a wide range of complex electronic systems in a cleanroom environment at a workbench or workstation, including maintaining accurate documentation of test data and setup/maintenance of RF test setups.
Support RF performance testing through environmental testing like TVAC, thermal, vibe, etc.

Basic Qualifications

Proficient with:
DC power supplies, digital multimeters, precision oscilloscopes, signal generators, RF power amplifiers, power meters, network analyzers/VNAs (PNA/PNA X), spectrum analyzers (phase noise/spur mode), vector signal analyzer, noise figure meters (or built in NF option), phase noise analyzers, data acquisition/test automation hardware (PXI, NI DAQ, USB digitizers), and ESD controlled clean room workstations with microscope and precision hand tools.

Demonstrated experience:
Proficient and experienced with bench level CCA testing, including a solid understanding of microwave theory and the operation of key RF building blocks such as low noise amplifiers, phase lock loops, and numerically/digitally controlled oscillators, as well as RF testing and troubleshooting of complex microwave/electronic subsystems, and with a proven ability to set up, operate, and interpret results from the full suite of RF test equipment.

This experience should cover the complete measurement chain-from basic DC and power checks using DC power supplies, digital multimeters, and precision oscilloscopes, through RF characterizations using network and spectrum analyzers to obtain S parameters, gain, gain flatness, slope, compression, noise figure, phase noise, phase linearity, AM/PM conversion, spurious emissions, harmonics, and intermodulation.

In all cases the technician must be proficient in configuring, calibrating, and maintaining the associated instruments while adhering to cleanroom and ESD protocols and delivering accurate, traceable documentation of test results.

Desired skills

Familiarity with these advanced concepts and test techniques is beneficial for a Level 3 Test Technician, though proficiency is not required:

Time delay and group delay measurements on a VNA.
EMI/EMC testing and interpretation of compliance results.
Digital modulation verification (e.g., PSK or QPSK) using vector signal analyzer (VSA) or a high speed oscilloscope with serial data analysis to evaluate constellation plots and eye diagrams for telemetry or data link checks.
Exposure to environmental test platforms such as Vibration, Thermal Cycling, and Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chambers
Basic experience with automated test scripting or data acquisition tools (e.g., Python, LabVIEW)
