Position Overview

We are looking for individuals dedicated to academic medicine who are eager to engage in teaching and research. You will be involved in a busy consultation service at our medical center and outpatient clinics, as well as providing services at the Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Successful candidates will be expected to work across all locations. Currently, inpatient services are shared among all physicians, and we are expanding our division to lessen the call burden on each physician. Our team benefits from excellent support staff for prior authorizations, scribes, and a collaborative approach with nurse practitioners.

About Our Division

The Rheumatology Division currently consists of 5.5 faculty members, with plans to expand to 9 full-time faculty. We offer extensive faculty development and wellness programs, including:

  • Physician vitality and wellness initiatives
  • Financial planning workshops
  • Positive psychology training
  • Clinical trials involvement
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion training
  • Various recreational activities such as pottery, painting, hiking, and yoga

Additionally, our faculty have access to free CME courses related to education and leadership, as well as personal and professional development resources. Whether your interests lie in healthcare administration, clinical research, medical education, or patient care, we are here to support your journey.

Fellowship and Research Opportunities

We offer a 2-year fellowship program that currently accommodates three fellows annually. Faculty members interact with fellows, residents, and students on a weekly basis. Our division is involved in clinical trials and various research initiatives, hosting seven specialized centers, including:

  • Center for Arthritis
  • Lupus Center
  • Scleroderma Center
  • Myositis Center
  • Sjogren’s Syndrome Center
  • Vasculitis Center
  • Center for Bone Health and Osteoporosis

These centers provide a rich pool of patients for research and expertise development. We also manage the Fracture Liaison Service and infusion centers at our affiliated hospitals, with ultrasound machines available at all locations for various diagnostic purposes.

Community Engagement

Faculty members are encouraged to explore academic opportunities through teaching and research, as well as providing care to underserved populations through partnerships with local health systems. We welcome discussions about these interests during the recruitment process.

Serving as the largest tertiary referral center in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, we cater to a population of nearly 4 million and are the only Level I Trauma Center in a four-county area, covering about 25% of the state. Our facilities include over 850 licensed beds.
