Job Description:
This is professional services work involving the completion of right of way appraisals for the purpose of acquiring property for departmental purposes. Positions at this level perform less complicated appraisal assignments generally involving single family properties, strips of land or easements. Responsibilities may include negotiation and relocation assignments.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A Bachelors Degree in a related field AND two (2) years experience involving real estate negotiations, property title work, surveying, estimating, appraisal, real estate brokerage, assessing, or evaluation OR an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education, providing a knowledge of real estate negotiations, property title work, surveying, estimating, appraisal, real estate brokerage, or evaluation. OR two (2) years of experience at the level of Right of Way Appraiser I (or equivalent in the appraisal industry) OR a Certified General Real Property Appraiser (or greater).
Necessary Special Requirement: Successful completion of the following Case Study Courses: Real Estate Appraisal Principles; Basic Valuation Procedures; Basic Income Capitalization; Advanced Income Capitalization; and Litigation Valuation -OR- equivalent of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers or the Society of Real Estate Appraisers.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Candidates may be required to obtain an International Right of Way Association Certification in one of the following disciplines: Appraisal Certified (R/W-AC), Negotiation/Acquisition Certified (R/W-NAC) or Relocation Assistance Certified (R/W-RAC) or equivalent.
