RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SPECIALIST - 43000192Open competitive employment opportunity.Requisition No: 878475Job OverviewState liability claims investigation and management for the State of Florida's Risk Management Program.Primary ResponsibilitiesConduct investigations into State liability claims filed against the State and its employees.Assign specific claims to contract adjusters for field investigation and supervise their activity to ensure quality.Review and manage all facets of litigation, including scrutinizing legal documents and guiding settlement negotiations.Apply case law to determine liability and evaluate the suitability of settlement, including reviewing medical reports and vendor bills.Authorize settlement offers within approved authority and deny claims when necessary.Approve and adjust attorney and vendor fees and expense statements.Maintain accurate claims information in the division's data processing system and file diary system.Work HoursMonitored weekdays, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Compensation$52,000.00 – $55,000.00, based on experience.BenefitsHealth, dental, vision, and supplemental insurances (over 90% employer paid).Florida retirement package.Generous vacation, sick leave, 9 paid holidays, and 1 personal holiday.Tuition waiver for public college courses.Training opportunities.Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Knowledge of insurance and risk management principles.Ability to conduct fact‑finding interviews, investigate claims, and analyze data.Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work, and communicate effectively.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Preferred QualificationsOne or more years of experience in insurance or liability claims adjustment.Experience in the legal field or working with attorneys.Experience in negotiations or conflict resolution.Experience with risk management information systems or similar claims databases.Florida Adjuster license.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Legal and ComplianceParticipation in a drug‑free workplace program with reasonable‑suspicion drug testing.EEO Statement: The State of Florida is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
