This position is a Regional Risk Manager for the Southeast Region. Duties include: management of risk for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism, collaboration on investigations including active assistance with action plans and interviews, oversight of mortality reviews, facilitation of appeals, participation in PBS rollout and peer review, oversight of regional compliance with data collection, reporting and provision of support to area offices and the field (program monitors), as well as other responsibilities as a member of the senior management team.
The Regional Risk Manager functions as a senior level manager, providing direction, support and oversight to a variety of clinical services and oversight services within the Region. This position oversees all programmatic and administrative aspects of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) risk management and incident reporting system for the Southeast Region. This entails developing, maintaining and enhancing systems in place to assure the appropriate identification and review of individuals at risk served by DDS. At any given time, there are approximately 200 risk management plans in the region requiring monitoring and oversight. The position oversees the incident reporting system Home and Community Services Information System (HCSIS), including assuring that appropriate individual actions are taken and that data is aggregated and analyzed in order to identify patterns and trends. The position involves consultation to DDS Area staff as well as providers regarding individuals at risk and is responsible for special projects related to the scopes identified for this position.
The Regional Risk Manager plays an active role in the regional peer review and PBS team and oversees mortality reviews for the region. The position works with the Office of Quality Enhancement around surveys and will assist area offices in follow up. Follow may entail additional or special reviews of provider agencies.
The Regional Risk Manager participates in statewide committees and is the conduit for clinical referrals to statewide clinical resources. This position assists the Regional Director in the ISP appeal process.
The Regional Risk Manager is a member of the Regional Management Team and reports directly to the Regional Director.
