Position Overview and Key Responsibilities
The City of Springfield is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead the City's risk management program, supporting an organization with approximately $1.5 billion in net assets, 1,800 full-time employees, and a $15 million self-insurance fund. The core functions of the position are:
The position will be responsible for supervision and currently manages two claims adjusters and a staff assistant.

Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training:
AND
Seven years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, insurance, claims administration, or a closely related field;
An advanced degree (MBA, MPA, JD) or relevant professional certification may be substituted for one year of experience;
At least two years of supervisory experience;
PREFERRED
Experience managing a self-insurance program or substantial self-insured retention;
Public sector experience.
