JOB DESCRIPTION

The Charge Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care.
  • Develop, discuss and communicate plan of care.
  • Demonstrate skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluate identified problems, care provided and patient response and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and complete audits for the unit as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for daily personnel assignment/monitoring patient care and overall unit activities, in accordance with established standards.
  • Supports Professional Governance through engagement and support of the Unit Based Council and other nursing councils.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred or
  • Associates Degree Nursing Required or
  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 1-3 years Clinical Nursing Experience Required

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state license Upon Hire Required and
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (OCIC_ONS/ONCC) Upon Hire Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical nursing, knowledge, and skills. (High proficiency)
