A Growing Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center
UF Health Leesburg is a Joint Commission-certified Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC), providing advanced treatment for patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke and other complex neurological conditions.
Our Neuro & Stroke Program is continuing to expand, and this unit will serve as the Neuro Hub for UF Health Central Florida, bringing together specialized neuro and stroke care, clinical expertise, education, and professional development.

Under the direction of the director/ charge nurse, the RN utilizes the nursing process, facilitates patient care making nursing assessments and diagnosis, formulates care plans based on the diagnosis and implements and evaluates the plan of care, performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:1. Demonstrates clinical care that is safe, best outcome practice with all Core Measures compliant.
2. Documents care provision per departmental standards.
3. Demonstrates compliance with all HCAHPS behaviors to allow patients and families to have an excellent hospital experience.
4. Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame.
5. Engages in departmental/hospital committees, PI projects, and educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members.
6. Attends Staff Meetings, completes all required competencies and mandatory education as assigned.
7. Seeks training, educational, certification and enhancement in area focus/specialty.
8. Other duties as assigned.
9. Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients and family members.
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure & Certifications
Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale Certification - complete prior to completion of orientation
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
Two (2) years of experience in acute care nursing required.
Two (2) years of experience as a Charge Nurse and critical care nursing strongly preferred.
New grads and/or candidates without neurology experience must demonstrate a strong interest in learning neurology nursing and commitment to professional development.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.
Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
