We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join an Orthopaedic surgical team as a Clearance Coordinator. This role manages the preoperative medical clearance process and helps ensure patients have completed the requirements needed for anesthesia review and surgical readiness. The Clearance Coordinator combines nursing judgment with strong coordination skills, working with patients, treating providers, the Surgical Coordinator, and the Anesthesia Team to obtain required clearances, prepare documentation, and move the pre-op process forward.

Key Responsibilities
- 1. Review pre-surgery anesthesia guidelines in Surgimate and identify the medical clearance requirements triggered by those guidelines.
- 2. Partner with the Surgical Coordinator to help patients complete required medical clearances, including coordinating with the appropriate provider offices and following up on outstanding documentation.
- 3. Explain clearance requirements and next steps to patients, conducting medical and clinical conversations within RN scope.
- Track clearance progress, identify missing information or barriers, and communicate unresolved concerns to the appropriate clinical team.
- 4. Confirm that patients are ready for the telephone pre-op appointment and complete the required pre-op documentation.
- Schedule telephone pre-op appointments with the Anesthesia Team.
- 5. Collaborate with the Anesthesia Team to complete the telephone pre-op process, perform assigned nursing components, and support the approval or denial workflow in accordance with established protocols and authorized clinician decisions.
- 6. Document the outcome of anesthesia review and communicate clearance status and outstanding requirements to the surgical team.
- 7. Maintain accurate, current records in Surgimate and applicable clinical systems to support clear handoffs and timely preparation for surgery.
- Required Qualifications
- 1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of practice.
- 2. Ability to conduct medical and clinical conversations with patients, provider offices, and anesthesia professionals.
- 3. Strong nursing assessment and clinical documentation skills, with the ability to recognize concerns requiring further review.
- 4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when tracking multiple clearance requirements and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1. Prior experience in preoperative clearance, surgical coordination, a specialty practice, perioperative nursing, or a similar clinical coordination role.
- 2. Experience with pre-admission testing, anesthesia preparation, telephone pre-op assessments, or obtaining medical clearances.
- 3. Familiarity with Surgimate, eClinicalWorks, or comparable systems is a plus, but not required.
