    Job Description

    The Clinical Educator serves as the educator for new employee orientation and facilitates annual staff development through formal and informal in-services and training programs who follows / teaches established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The educator is responsible for providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. The educator collaborates with the clinical education team to provide computer orientation and retraining as deemed necessary. This role promotes a climate for the employee that encourages learning and self-motivation through the application of principles of adult learning. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the educator is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate to meet the diverse and global needs of the facility.

    • Assesses, designs, presents, and coordinates educational programs, in-services, and orientation for the department's staff.
    • Supports the development of the bedside nurse and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice.
    • Collaborates with the department's administration to establish major objectives and standards to comply with regulatory accreditation gencies.
    • Serves as the clinical subject matter expert and internal consultant to leadership assuring that professional standards of practice in the clinical area are integrated into decision making, operations, and practice.
    • Actively pursues new developments in education and training methodology and participates in activities that contribute to professional growth and development.
    • Manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies and procedures
    • Documents education and training activities.
    • Collaborates with administrative and clinical personnel in identifying the learning needs of individuals and groups in the patient care unit. Participates in departmental quality efforts and develops educational programs to reflect needs identified through quality monitoring.
    • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.

    Minimum Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required

    Minimum Work Experience

    • 1-3 years Nursing experience in an acute care setting Required
    • 2 years Nursing experience in an acute care setting Preferred
